International women’s day

It was International Women’s Day yesterday, so I went along to the women’s day march.

In previous years it has been massive and filled the streets.

Unfortunately this year there were just a couple of thousand people in attendance.

There was still a great atmosphere, but I was sad it wasn’t bigger.

The Cocoon

The Blue Elephant Theatre had a showing of The Cocoon.

This all female dance performance interweaves women’s stories with dance.

This wasn’t the best dance production that I’ve ever seen, but it was entertaining.

I preferred the gutsier dance routines to the ephemeral routines, but it was a very fluid production.

Go if you like dance, but if you’re not that into dance this isn’t going to change your mind.

Women and love songs

Do you remember me mentioning Sonique?

I thought I’d remind you of this one.

Suzi Quatro!

Do you remember this one rock and rolling and talking about love in a husky voice?

In leather?

Remember?

She wouldn’t have let anyone get away with pushing her around.

Why has everyone got so sexist?

Slut shaming

After Harvey Weinstein and Trump’s sexism, I would like to remind you of someone.

This is every woman you take on a date, kiss, take home, introduce to your parents.

If you start getting jealous about someone else she likes, it might be because you no longer make her feel like this anymore.

She is every woman in love regardless of race or income.

Clear.

Hillary's been Trumped

Trump is now set to be head of the White House, duck and cover.

Just when you think that news from the states can't get any more weird, this happens.

The idea of having a female President is apparently so weird that the majority of Americans would like a male nut job instead.

I'd love to be balanced about this, but the last time someone suggested building a wall between political landscapes we were at the height of the Cold War.

America, honestly you've left me speechless.

I have a dream

I feel this is a more fitting tribute to Maya Angelou than I could muster in a discussion of her poetry.

Women are all powerful!

This is hilarious:

All women can read your mind!

You're not fat, you're phenomenal

One of my friends has been writing about her thoughts about being fat.

I have always thought that she looks great.

And again I was reminded of the Maya Angelou poem phenomenal woman.

Every woman should read this and feel proud of their body.
